Colombia - AngloGold thinks about how to explore gold in 500 places

The second world golden producer has explored 7,05 million hectares of the national territory, and, between others, it found the deposit of The Coflagstone, in Cajamarca (Tolima). But it was from 2004 when along with his associates it began to realize investments that reached 74 million Dollars.

As there were born result two projects, which are in development:

Gramalote, in Antioch, in a joint venture with B2Gold, and The Coflagstone, in Cajamarca, Tolima.

For the first time, since the president Álvaro Uribe announced the discovery of Cajamarca in last December, the company decided to break his silence to speak about the operation in Colombia and about the recent facts that led to suspending temporarily the development in Cajamarca, which might delay the development of the project.

Chris Andrea Lodder, president of exploration of AngloGold for the Americas, admitted that The Coflagstone “contains something big”, but it abstained from revealing other details.

Today, AngloGold is provided with 21 mining operations located in 10 countries and his current production amounts to 5,5 million annual ounces of gold.

“There is much that studying and is or he delays a time, at the beginning of April we would have official information on the magnitude of The Coflagstone”, said Lodder, who added that Colombia is, undoubtedly, a strategic point.
