In Las Palmas of Grand Canary there is a ten establishments that devote themselves to this sector. Some of his owners affirm that out of what it should be possible to think they are not doing his August in this epoch of crisis.
Sabina García used of the shop placed in the ravine Guiniguada, affirms that “from December there has been evident an increase of 30 % of clients who come to the shop to sell jewels”.
But, he warns, “that does not mean that we do the August. But when this precious metal sells again at the public, the value of the gram has increased up to 24 euros.
Eladio Estévanez is a golden owner The Pilgrim, in the Vegueta quarter, for 27 years. He reminds the crisis to that of the 80s. In this month there has entered not even only one client to buy gold, simply they approach to sell. “There come the all kinds people, from the 18 up to 70 years, the people without resources and the people with a lot of money”.
Estévanez proves to be differing with the mass media. “They say that we are taking advantage of this moment of crisis, but that is not like that, we are in the law of the market and I put the prices depending on the Stock Exchange”, he tells.
“I survive selling to him the State, to the Spanish Society of Precious metals and that's why the gram changes of price depending on the piece”, it adds. “I buy it to eight, nine and ten euros and in these days (of crisis) I am buying big quantities; but to sell, nothing at all”, concludes.
