Peru - Gold leads rise in mining production from January until October, 2008
26-11-2008 Peru Minem prayedThe golden production and zinc led the mining activity in Peru to a rhythm of 8,7 % from January until October, 2008, informed the Department of Energy and Mines of Peru.
In 10 analyzed months, the gold reached a production of 148.971.399 thin grams and only in October, 2008 it grew 9,1 % with regard to the same month of the year 2007.
The rise answers to a major production of the mining company-year-old Barrick Misquichilca 57 %, in his unit of High place Chicama, in the Peruvian north.
Also, the mine-layer Yanacocha, in the northern region Cajamarca, had an increase in his production of 11 % in October, 2008.
The Central Bank of Reservation of Peru (BCR) thought that the GDP (Gross Internal Product) miner grew in 4,7 % in September, 2008, with regard to the same month of 2007, with which it has been reached 15 consecutive months of growth.
