Peru - For a new mining politics
15-08-2009 Peru prayed The RepublicThe current petroleum and mining contracts were part of the reforms of the Consensus of Washington. These reforms happened at the moment of fall of the Wall of Berlin and the Soviet Union, while in the national plane the country was going out of the hyperinflation and of a long internal war.
The problem with these “lovers' agreements”, since it called them the newspaper The Economist, is that spent the honeymoon the problems came.
Certainly, fair amount of mining and petroleum investment came to Latin America and the production grew.
The question is that, when the prices boom took place from 2005 up to ends of 2008, the extraordinary profit was not distributed in an equitable way.
